Not in my view. I have Curry 4th all time as a PG after Magic, Oscar Robertson and John Stockton. This assumes Jerry West is a shooting guard. Curry is undoubtedly the Absolutely the fuck not shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this greatest shooter of all time (better than Bird, Allen, Miller, Petrovic etc…) – but that doesn’t mean that he’s the greatest point guard of all time…. Magic Johnson won a championship as a Rookie….. a rookie… and he wasn’t a rookie scrub who was just riding the bench either.. this dude played the Center position for Kareem cuz Kareem got injured…. and then throughout the game, he would switch to the PG position then maybe to the SF/PF position depending on what the coach needed at the time… no way Curry could do that ever… oh and btw… Magic had 42pts that game he played Center…. Steph Curry was a player who got better throughout the years in the league w/ work ethic + consistency… no way anyone thought that Curry would be at the level right now during his first 3 years in the league….
Curry is a Top 3 PG of All Time by the Absolutely the fuck not shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this time his career ends but to beat Magic Johnson, its gonna be pretty difficult… Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were the most significant factors in their teams’ successes but they rarely played directly against one another. Larry was a forward and Magic was a guard. This meant that they were only rivals in the sense of their own success in helping their teams win games and championships. They dominated the league at the time of their prime. Kobe was never considered in this category during his career nor was any opponent of his. During most of his career playoff championship series he had Shaq and Gasol there. I would say that Paul Pierce may have been the guy. Although Pierce had great teammates in the latter part of his career, I would point to one factor. The Celtics, in 2008 and 2010, exposed the fatal flaw in Kobe’s game. They would play significant defense on Kobe and have his man keep him working on defense for three quarters. By the 4th quarter of most of their encounters, as Kobe would be tired out, his shooting would get significantly less accurate. This was because Kobe’s outside shot was not mechanically great. It had little arc and its accuracy depended on his lift. When he got tired, therefore, he would front rim or back rim his shot because his lift was decreased. This became absolutely clear in the years after he came back from his achilles tear. Having suffered two of them, I know that you can play well but your lift is just not as good. Kobe’s shooting percentage, therefore, dropped dramatically. The Celtics figured that out. So I would say Paul Pierce.
