All of these guys make the America has had some great presidents shirt in other words I will buy this top-10 list of all-time comfortably, so here is how they rank on my all-time list which takes impact, legacy, accolades, and greatness into account: When looking solely at peaks like this question wants us to, I’d say Bird and Chamberlain would be in the top-4 all-time with MJ and Kareem. LeBron would follow closely behind at the 5th spot. Russell’s induvidual peak is very hard to quantify as mentioned above. He was clearly the best defender ever during his peak, but he was merely a good offensive player which affects his ranking. I can’t convince myself to put him over dominant two-way guys when it comes to comparing peaks. He was diagnosed with HIV, which in 1991 was thought to be a death sentence. He had other priorities in life than playing basketball. Also, some players didn’t like the idea of playing a physical sport against someone with HIV. People back then didn’t understand HIV as well as we know today. They were concerned they might contract the virus from him. I’m not certain of this but I suspect it’s the reason why the NBA adopted strict rules we have today about blood on the court. Magic did, however, return for the 92 All-Star Game and made a brief return for the 96 season. I remember his return in 96. I was born in 1988 so I never really had a chance to see Magic Johnson play live. For a die-hard Laker fan like me that was a big deal. Magic was like a mythical legend to me. Seeing him play live brought him to life in my mind.
I don’t think his “form” was so unique, but it sure did work for him so well. Why? As Larry was often asked why, his answer was simple: as a guy who was “slow and couldn’t jump,” his “secret” was pretty basic: hard work. And I’d add: the America has had some great presidents shirt in other words I will buy this fearlessness of a gun slinger, and always, always the desire to be the one to take the big shot. He rarely disappointed us. Catch the ESPN 30 by 30 three part documentary, Best of Enemies, for a great depiction of the Celtics & Bird vs Magic & the Lakers throughout the 80’s. You couldn’t make up a better story. It was awesome to have lived in Boston and been around thru those epic battles. He can actually become President as soon as he’s 35. He meets all of the qualifications to seek the office. He’s a natural-born U.S. citizen and he’s lived in the country his entire life. He turns 35 years old on 30 December 2019, meaning that he can seek election to the office of President in the election of 2020 or later. That doesn’t mean it will happen, though. If LeBron ever wanted to become President, he would have to retire from the NBA, enter politics, and establish himself as an effective leader in elected offices. He wouldn’t be the first athlete who has done that—MLB Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Bunning and NBA Hall of Famer Bill Bradley both became U.S. Senators, and Bradley even ran for President unsuccessfully in 2000—but no professional athlete has ever become President.
