Shaquille O’Neal is an all time great. He was very dominant in his prime, but you’re trying to compare prime Wilt Chamberlain and prime Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to him? Wilt is or was the It’s ok to be different autism awareness Minnesota Vikings shirt and I love this best in scoring, rebounding, passing, and defense. Wilt and Shaq were even on dominance. Kareem was the best in shooting and leadership. Olajuwon was the better defender. Kareem was an underrated defender, but not at the level of Olajuwon and not nearly at the level of Chamberlain and Russell. I thought Olajuwon was a slightly better rebounder than Jabbar, but the stats may not bear that out, because they played at different times when there were more or less rebounds to get. Jabbar was a better rebounder in the 70s than the 80s. Neither player approached the rebounding excellence of Wilt and Russell and PFs Pettit and J. Lucas.
So Hakeem rates better as a defender than Kareem. Kareem is the It’s ok to be different autism awareness Minnesota Vikings shirt and I love this better offensive player. Rebounding-approx. even. Both were good passers. Overall, I have Jabbar the 2nd best center of all time and Olajuwon the 5th best center. I have Kareem ranked 3rd all time among all players and Olajuwon 14th. Hakeem could be higher, but there are so many great+ players. While there’s some discussion about who’s the GOAT (Jordan is IMO), Shaq isn’t even in that discussion when he’s typically not even said to be the best Center of all time when you have players like Kareem, Wilt, Hakeem and Bill Russell who had their own dominant runs. Michael Jordan was never a liability on either side of the ball as he had a lethal scoring game (10X Scoring Champion) while being a lock down defender (9X All Defensive Team). Shaq on the other hand had a huge liability by way of his free throw shooting with a career free throw % of 52.7%:
