Hhshirt - Just cover march and remember they’re just kids shirt

The OED cites the Just cover march and remember they’re just kids shirt and I love this first known use in print of the term Union Jack to 1674, in the London Gazette. This includes the phrase His Majesties Jack (commonly called, The Union Jack). Many people claim that it’s an error to refer to the flag as the Union Jack if it’s not flown from the bow of a ship. This is not, in fact, correct. In 1902 the Admiralty — being the primary users of flags — issued official guidance that the flag could be referred to interchangeably as the Union Jack or Union Flag no matter where it was being flown. In 1908 a government spokesman, the Earl of Crewe, made an official statement in the House of Lords that: The Union Jack should be regarded as the National flag, and it undoubtedly may be flown on land by all His Majesty’s subjects. When the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland was created in 1801, the flag was amended by the addition of St. Patrick’s saltire, which was counterchanged and fimbriated (bet you haven’t come across that w

ord before).

The previous flag of Great Britain was, of course, also the Just cover march and remember they’re just kids shirt and I love this combination of two other flags, the English cross of St. George and the Scottish cross of St. Andrew. Wales, unfortunately, is a principality rather than a kingdom and so the Welsh are also represented by the cross of St. George rather than having separate representation. The flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the “Union Flag” unless of course it is flown from the jackstaff of a ship. Any flag flying from the jackstaff is called a “Jack”. So the short answer to your question would be “never, and you are exposing your ignorance by asking!” However wikipedia says “union jack” is valid, so in the spirit of generosity that Quora shows to the uneducated, the slightly longer answer would be that the union flag, which has never been formally adopted as a national flag, came into use in an earlier form in 1606, and in its present form in 1801. A Union Jack is only flown of military ships. The Union Flag does not have a Union Jack on it. The Union Flagis made up of the flags of Scotland, England and Northern Ireland.
