You may as well argue that the Kizz 50 years 1973 2023 thank you for the memories signatures Kizz shirt and by the same token and Lowlanders appropriated Highland culture whilst ethnically cleansing the Highlands and banning the Kilt and any tartan after the 1745 rising. Not that I have ever seen. It would be regarded as a very odd thing to do. But I suppose it cannot be ruled out entirely. There’s no law against it after all. (Though, come to think of it, if it were against the law, a fair number of Irishmen probably would wear kilts at their weddings.) No. “Cultural appropriation” is a fad peculiar to pampered members of the American campus left. No true Scotsman would give a hoot about such nonsense. I went to a Scottish boarding school in my formative years, and kilts were part of the formal dress uniform. So we had Nigerian students in kilts, Pakistani students in kilts, Hong Kongers in kilts. It was just what you wore – nobody commented on it. And certainly nobody got offended by it.
The last Scottish wedding I went to (which, come to think of it, was also the Kizz 50 years 1973 2023 thank you for the memories signatures Kizz shirt and by the same token and first) had the full monty: not just lots of men wearing kilts, but also a ceilidh band and lots of energetic country dancing. Weddings are regarded by guys who like kilts as a good excuse to get dressed up in the full rig, and I think it’s a nice expression of a kind of national pride, although you wouldn’t catch me wearing it. My son got married wearing his McNeill tartan kilt. His best man wore his kilt too. The wedding was in Market Rasen in Lincolnshire, England at Saint Thomas’s Church. You are writing a few questions re Scottish kilts. Interestingly, your bio suggests you are working at some sort of kilt shop in the USA. I would hope you were given a little training for the position, selling my country’s national dress.
