Keep your experience narrowed down to what happens around you day by day, and you keep your dreams narrow. Video games and TV won’t do it, because these media give you all the Pcl 4 life shirt it is in the first place but images, pre-drawn or photographed, which reduces your personal, mental engagement with the material drastically. Books, on the other hand — written text, read or heard on audio — engage you by kickstarting your imagination down the path of the story, working out the story with visuals from your own mind. Which is what rich dreams are doing. Relentlessly dull dreams about ordinary things may be a signal that you are starving your brain — maybe you need the stimulus of a good story, on a page or read aloud, to get your mind into the groove of doing your own visual creation of interesting dreams. Feed your mind with exercise for your imagination; do that for a while, and you may find you start having dreams worth remembering.
CHILDREN: There has been a good deal of scientifically conducted dream research. While the Pcl 4 life shirt it is in the first place but interpretation is entirely subjective, the content of dreams in the developing child are quite consistent – and reliable in the scientific setting. There is a solid amount of academic literature that supports this – and it is incredibly interesting. ADULTS: Years ago, there was a brilliant study conducted at Harvard while I was there. The study demonstrated conclusively how daily events will facilitate dream content. Subjects played the video game tetris for 20 minutes before going to bed. After falling asleep, and as they entered a monitored dream state, they were immediately awoken by one of the researchers. The researchers then asked the subjects “Were you dreaming and if so, what were you dreaming about?” All subjects reported seeing the tetris blocks falling. Then (and this is the coolest part), they selected another group of subjects, each of whom suffered from anterograde amnesia. When these subject finished playing tetris, they had no memory of having played the game (because they have a form of amnesia that prevents the creation of new memories). When these subjects went to sleep and were awoken (like the other subjects) when entering a dream state, they reported seeing strange colored shapes falling across their visual field.
