INFJs are known for being special snowflakes, and while we may not be special (anxious, depressed, perfectionistic narcissists (on occasion)), we most certainly are snowflakes (different). Is it possible to misunderstand someone? Yes. After all, people do it to INFJs all the time. I find I misunderstand people who do not “feel” emotions normally. Basically anyone with a T personality trait. Because of the intuitive and feeling nature, I am an empath. I absorb everything about the person I am around and develop a way to connect with them. But people who don’t know how to express their emotions or don’t really show emotions – I can and have misread because there emotions (that I feel) don’t match their logic they understand.
Example I have a friend who is an ISTP. I feel that he has very heavy emotions but they often come out different verbally when we have conversations – almost as if he is hiding them or pretending they don’t exist. He refuses to let emotion impact his descisions – something i almost envy. I also have a friend who is INTJ. She works with people who have emotional issues – she in turn has almost completely shut of her emotions. I never know how she feels because I can’t feel her. But thankfully INTJs are very good at logically expressing themselves – if they need to and think you are worthy enough to know.
