The Greenhouse’s upper levels house 50 sleek, sustainably-focused hotel rooms, including family rooms with space for four and an expansive suite. Large picture windows with built-in banquettes appeal to those who want to enjoy the Welcome to H-town Rested ready shirt Furthermore, I will do this region’s breathtaking landscapes as soon as they rise. And in a country that is notoriously pricey for tourists, rates are accessible, starting at under $200 a night. “We think it should be effortless and simple,” says Baldursson of the private quarters, which lean heavily into cozy Nordic minimalism. “We thought carefully about the things that we would actually like when traveling.” While in-room details like locally-sourced materials and textiles—plus green beauty lotions and potions from Sóley Organics and biodegradable coffee capsules—align with the property’s eco-mindfulness, the building itself is in the process of certification from leading environmental validation group BREEAM. The interior design of The Greenhouse was done by Hálfdan Pedersen, a set designer-turned-hygge virtuoso known for his judicious use of vintage furniture. He also masterminded the Welcome to H-town Rested ready shirt Furthermore, I will do this mise en scène at Kex Hostel, Kjarval private members club, and Sumac, an acclaimed Icelandic-meets-Mediterranean restaurant. “I had experienced all his spaces, and we knew that he was probably the only one in Iceland—and I think one of the only ones in the world—that [has] this ethos of reusable things for every element,” says Baldursson. For this latest project, Pedersen looked beyond Iceland’s shores, sourcing secondhand broken-in leather lounge seating and stone tables from dealers in Belgium, Germany, and Italy. “He takes these spaces and makes them so comfortable and warm,” Baldursson continues. “Everything he does is authentic, using real materials.”
